Camping with the Corps of Engineers - Bill MacDermod - WILLIAMSPORT, PA, US
This book will be in our seat pocket of our tow vehicle and be used a lot, we do a lot of traveling with our travel trailer and these Corps campgrounds are first class with an economy price tag.
Okay, But Not If You Are In The... - Avid Camper - USA
This book is okay, but not very useful, if you are traveling in the Midwest or most northern states. It seems there are few Corps Campgrounds available in northern and Midwest areas, with some states having none, some 1 or 2. If, however, you travel down south, there are many choices for camping. States listed in the book and their number of Corps locations (many having multiple campgrounds listed at each location (such as north campground/south campground), are as follows: Alabama-10, Arkansas-19, California-12, Connecticut-1, Florida-2, Georgia-8, Idaho-2, Illinois-4, Iowa-5, Kansas-14, Kentucky-10, Louisiana-1, Maryland-1, Massachusetts-1, Minnesota-5, Mississippi-6, Missouri-10, Montana-2, Nebraska-2, New Mexico-2, North Carolina-1, North Dakota-3, Ohio-1, Oklahoma-21, Oregon-5, Pennsylvania-9, South Carolina-2, South Dakota-3, Tennessee-6, Texas-22, Vermont-1, Virginia-3, Washington-6, West Virginia-6, Wisconsin-3. That's all! If a state is not listed here, it has no Corps locations with camping. Many of the campground locations will have only a few sites available. Many of the Corps locations seem to be clustered closely together, leaving large parts of a state with no campground. If you are traveling to an area that contains many choices, this book is for you. However, the places we were traveling to have no campgrounds in the state or anywhere close. I wish I would have known the states covered, before I ordered. The information contained in the book about each location is detailed. I don't know how accurate it is, since unfortunately for us, there are no locations near to our travels. There is a US map in the back of the book, but it merely shows the locations of each state and state capital, not the Corps locations. I wish it did. Hope you find this helpful!
