Game Plan for Life Review
Awesome is a word I reserve especially to praise God, never using it loosely. It is a sacred word for me. I cannot believe how good this book is and I'm a little awestruck. Literally. First I picked it off of the library shelf because it is attractive. The cover paints a portrait of a focused coach in the zone: Joe Gibbs. I somehow had never heard of the 3-time Super Bowl champion or the 3-time NASCAR champion. I figured he must have something useful to teach me about creating or recreating a successful life. The book is written following the pattern of a sports team with a lineup of experts to advise the reader on topics such as finances, heaven, vocation, health and the meaning of life. It covers everything in a clever way. I can't stop reading its anecdotes because they are so well written and interesting. I bet many people have benefitted from knowing Joe Gibbs just by observing the example of a good man that he is but we get to see the intricate workings of his methods which start from a coach's heart and go deeply into Scripture to solve life's mysteries and problems. The back of the book contains many resources and notes that I'm sure I'll refer to for quick helps for years to come. I'm going to purchase this book and share it with family and friends. It reminded me of Mind Gym : An Athlete's Guide to Inner Excellence which is great, so great I gave it away to a friend years ago. I should add that Jerry Jenkins helped write the book as well. Please read this book. It is beyond helpful: it is awesome.

This calvacade of Christian lights are in essence, life position coaches, as Coach Gibbs oversees the general direction of the conversation. This format is extremely effective, as Coach Gibbs comes across not as an ivory tower know-it-all, but as someone who has met Christ, and is at home, learning at the feet of the Master. Bravo to Coach Joe Gibbs and to his team! This book is a blessing!
